For many of my clients, the journey to my New Ulm newborn studio begins in the surrounding communities of Mankato, St. Peter, or Owatonna. I often hear from moms that while they were looking for the best luxury newborn photographer in Southern Minnesota, they were worried about the “logistics” of traveling with a brand-new baby.
I want to let you in on a little secret: a trip to my studio isn’t just a photo session—it’s a morning of intentional rest and a chance to explore the charm of one of Minnesota’s most beautiful towns.

When you arrive at my studio—located just a scenic 20-minute drive from the heart of Mankato—the work is already done for you. Because I provide a fully-stocked studio of artisan newborn props and wraps, you don’t have to spend your morning packing bags or stressing over outfits. You simply arrive, and I handle the rest.
While I am utilizing safety-certified, baby-led posing to capture your little one’s first portraits, I encourage my parents to truly relax. Many of my clients use this time to catch a nap on the studio sofa or enjoy the special surprise gift waiting for them at the start of their session.

Once our session is complete and your heart is full, I always suggest turning your outing into a memorable day trip. Whether you’re heading back toward Blue Earth County or east toward Faribault, New Ulm offers a slower pace of life that perfectly complements the “true-to-life” soul of my photography.
From grabbing a quiet latte at a local boutique coffee shop to taking a slow stroll through our historic downtown, your newborn session can be the centerpiece of a beautiful day spent celebrating your growing family.
1. For the Perfect Post-Session Latte: The Backerei & Coffee Shop
After your Session, treat yourself to a quiet moment at the Backerei. Their lattes are the perfect ‘pick-me-up’ for the drive back to Mankato, and their traditional pastries are a sweet way to celebrate your baby’s first outing.
2. For a Gentle Stroll: German Park
If the weather is beautiful, take a slow walk through German Park. The sunken gardens offer a peaceful, soulful atmosphere that matches the “true-to-life” vibe of our session. It’s the perfect spot to sit for a moment and just soak in the New Ulm charm before heading home. If you have other children, this park also has a wonderful playground, complete with a zipline for those older siblings!
3. For Unique Finds: Guten Tag Haus
Before you leave town, stop by The Christmas Haus. It’s filled with intentional, high-quality gifts and European finds. It’s my favorite place to suggest for moms looking for a unique keepsake or a high-end toy to tuck away for their little one’s first Christmas.
4. Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth: MN Eis
Calling all ice cream lovers, this one will surely satisfy that sweet, creamy craving! Nestled in the heart of downtown New Ulm, you’ll find this specialty ice cream and sweets shoppe provides the perfect amount of German flare. This seasonal shop is available and open in the warmer months.
